ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL

**This new review section of AMP is dedicated to guest reviewers. In this section there will also be concert reviews and updates on music in different cities such as Los Angeles, Chicago, etc. The topics will vary in this portion of the website with reviews on EDM to rap to the business of music. I hope you find the reviews informative.**

***Each year EDM fans from around the world patiently wait for the month of June. Why you may ask?  To party “under the electric sky” of course. This past weekend wrapped up the 21st annual Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Insomniac Events flagship festival brought the numbers in a big way once again this year, bringing in over 130,000 attendees each night of the three day “dusk till dawn” festival.

***Each year the Las Vegas Super Speedway is transformed into a neon wonderland; filled with heart pumping beats from the worlds biggest names in music, over the top carnival rides, delectable food, art, dancing, and quite possibly the greatest display of fireworks you’ll ever see. It seems with each passing year that Pasquale Rosella (owner of Insomniac) ups the ante, making the festival even bigger and more out of control. This year was no different, adding a new full scale stage to the roster bringing the final number to nine. Rosella, whose been throwing events for 25 years , believes that it is all about the experience. He gives festival goers a completely immersive experience that will leave you wondering where you were transported to and why is everyone wearing sunglasses at night?

***The music and culture surrounding electronic music is unlike any other on earth. With the concepts of peace, love, unity, and respect for each other being the values on which the scene is built. For many, EDC Las Vegas is the Mecca of electronic music festivals, welcoming guests from all over the world for a weekend of unforgettable memories with old friends and new.

***The festival, which has called the speedway in Las Vegas its home since 2011, has seen its share of ups and downs. Although the overall consensus is that the Electric Daisy is quite a success, the festival still struggles each year with finding an effective way of getting over 100k people to and from the grounds each night. The commute which normally takes around 40 minutes, can turn into a multiple hour journey due to there being only one main road that leads to the venue. Getting back from the festival has proven to be equally difficult. Each morning, as the extreme Vegas heat rolls in at the festival end, many ravers are found waiting for hours for a shuttle to take them back to their hotels. At end of the day one must take the good with the bad, and Insomniac really does an amazing job providing a once in a lifetime experience. With festival season in full swing, EDC Las Vegas marks the highlight for most but don’t dismay EDCLV is only one of many festivals that Insomniac hosts throughout the year. And the summer has just begun.
