NO WORRIES BREWERY

Kevin Mark and Dan Whittle met at Southern Connecticut State University and realized they had something in common. They both enjoyed home brew.They started to produce brews together and from that collaboration a dream emerged. That dream was the inspiration for the No Worries Brewery on State Street in Hamden, Ct. No Worries has become a mission for Kevin and Dan. They want to “share their unique creations with the rest of the world” in a very laid back environment.

No Worries Brewery is nestled in a small brick warehouse. The walls are decorated in amazing graffiti created by Werpeps and the whole environment seems very relaxed and intimate. Kevin and Dan wanted to construct a space were people can mingle in an unconstrained atmosphere and feel perfectly at home. Their bar is inviting and their staff a pleasure to deal with. They have an extensive folio of beers that are constantly rotated. When I spoke to the two of them they wanted to ensure that the was a beer for “everyone”. Also their beers are distributed and are on tap at many bars and restaurants throughout the state.

From No Worries‘ “Do-Si-Do” (single hop IPA) and “Hakuna Matata” ( blond ale) to “Say It Loud” (brown ale) every beer we sampled was rich and flavorful. The tap room also serves half pints for the folks who want to sample more than a few concoctions. The inside is welcoming with an open layout and several couches, chairs and hi-tops for seating. Several board games are available to whittle the time away and as customary food trucks are available on certain days for the hungry.

The No Worries crew put on a considerable amount of special events during the year. My crew and I attended one such offering, The Hakuna Fest. The Hukana Fest is the No Worries homage to the many Oktoberfest events celebrated in the fall. They offered live bands and special merch to enhance the jubilation. On this particular occasion they featured three bands ranging from local favs to a national touring artist (review of show in a future post). The mood was very cool and anticipation invigorating. This being the fourth year of the Hakuna Fest, Kevin and Dan want to make it bigger and better each year. This is their way to “celebrate local music, local beer and just kicking back with good friends and good vibes”.

On a whole No Worries should have no worries. It’s a perfect place to enjoy good brew, hang for the day, and just soak in the Hakuna Matata.
