MOLLY KARLOFF – SHE SAID – SINGLE REVIEW
Oxfordshire U.K. based Molly Karloff is a hard hitting power trio who just released an impressive new remix of their single, “She Said” (Romesh Remix), with all proceeds benefitting the U.K. mental health charity, Oxfordshire Mind. Molly Karloff is comprised of Simon Gee (Vocals/Guitar), Dan Podbery (Bass) and Jowie Adkins (Drums).
“She Said” is off their colossal 2020 EP, Supernaturalation. The EP contains five explosive tunes that places Molly Karloff on the precipice of musical notoriety. Besides “She Said”, Supernaturalation boasts the driving “The Other Side” with its crunchy inflections and intense rhythm. Another prominent tune is the sweeping “Supernaturalation” which incorporates an imposing ambiance and killer guitar solo. Gee’s vocals are aggressively harmonic and intense throughout the EP. His guitar is ruthless and unabashedly wicked. Podbery’s bass has an ominous tone yet remains edgy. Adkins’ percussions are extremely ballsy. The release is boldly riff driven with supersized licks.
The new remix by producer Romesh Dodangoda (Bullet for MY Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon) brings a new brazen perspective to the single. He had previously worked with Molly Karloff on another song from Supernaturalation, the powerful “Do It Again”
Speaking about the mental health aspect of the release Gee says: Lockdowns are bad for mental health. We decided to raise money to help those people who are suffering the most. Mental health is a serious issue and that’s why the band is showing our support by donating all the proceeds from the new single to Oxfordshire Mind“.
Kathryn Pickup from the charity also said: “Covid-19 has dramatically highlighted the need for services like ours. Our fundraising has been reduced significantly due to cancelled events and activities over the past few months. We are incredibly thankful for supporters like the rock band Molly Karloff“.
The new single has garnished much praise. “She Said” (Romesh Remix) was made track of the week on The New Rock Show on Planet Rock. It also received rave reviews by many leading music publications. On top of all that, Molly Karloff has signed a deal with Off Yer Rocka Records who will release the band’s next two records.
Molly Karloff is definitely a group that’s ready to break. Their music is addictive with a formidable punch. The musicianship is pristine and electric. The songwriting is strong and masterful. All in all, Molly Karloff is “the” band to watch. It’s just a matter of time before they are headlining major venues. The band just plainly “cranks”.
