IGNESCENT – REMNANT – SINGLE REVIEW

Female fronted and Chicago based, hard hitting rockers Ignescent have recently released an audacious track entitled “Remnant” .The new single is from their upcoming EP,  Ascension, dropping March 4th. Founded by lead singer Jennifer Benson, Ignescent‘s sound is profoundly cinematic with driving riffs and annihilating vocals. Every one of their compositions embodies stellar guitar licks, a colossal backbeat and ferocious arrangements. The rest of the group is composed of Ty Moreland (Guitar), Ian Sebastian (Bass) and Joshua Garcia (Drums).

Ignescent is more than a rock band. They are real people who use their music to convey honest stories. Jennifer Benson elaborates: .”We’re authentic people that just want to encourage others with our message”. The group is influenced by many outstanding artists such as Flyleaf, Evanescence and JInjer, Ignescent have also opened for Buckcherry, Megadeath and Saliva to name a few. In addition, they have played numerous major festivals.

Last year, Ignescent put out two hammering singles. “Exodus” has an edgy ambiance and Benson’s voice is full of magnificent tension. The soundscape has an eerie vibe and the beat is relentless. It was produced by Jeremy Valentyne of New Years Day. “Goodbye” has a dark and menacing feel with emotive vocals and addictive guitar riffs. The song is both captivating and all devouring.

“Remnant” delivers a powerful punch of sonic audacity. Again, Benson’s voice soars with an imposing depth. Moreland’s guitar creates an aural deluge of explosive determination. Sebastian’s bass has a muscular quality while Garcia’s drums are shattering. “Remnant” carries an anthemic volatility with a voracious tempo. It’s a monster of a track.

Speaking about the song, Benson elaborates:

“The definition of remnant is a small remaining quantity of something, especially after a tragedy. ‘Remnant’ is about us being blessed beyond measure despite our failures and weaknesses and despite going through tragedy and hardships. It’s about perseverance and saying to the world even when we are brokenhearted and suffering we won’t give up and will keep going”.

The band also states:

“We will come up stronger despite adversity. It’s an encouragement to others to do the same and not lose hope and not give in to fear. We hope this song makes people feel inspired and to rock out!”

“Remnant” is a banger of a tune. If this is any indication of Ignescent‘s forthcoming EP, the world better be on alert. Ignescent is going for the throat.

Ignescent.is currently on a Midwest tour and are already slated to perform this summer at Rock Fest in Cadott, WI. with Sameer Bhattacharya of Flyleaf on guitar.
