MINISTRY – THE INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH TOUR
Al Jourgensen is bringing the Ministry “Industrial Strength Tour” to College Street Music Hall on Friday March 11th. The support is also outstanding. The Melvins and Corrosion Of Conformity will be sharing the bill. Ministry will debut new songs from their brand-new album, Moral Hygiene, alongside celebrating the 30th anniversary of seminal album, The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste, that produced hits “Thieves”, “So What” and “Burning Inside” throughout the tour.
Moral Hygiene is Ministry‘s 15th studio album. The material features some of the band’s strongest compositions to date. Al Jourgensen used his pandemic downtime to create explosive jewels that demand awareness of humanity’s current social flaws . He ruminates on the crazed world we find ourselves surrounded by. Each track has its own singular musical characteristic and attacks one of society’s ever present evils.
Opening tune, “Alert Level” is full of flaring energy and aggressive vibes. The tempo is all devouring and Jourgensen’s vocals are massive. “Alert Level” sounds the alarm on the state the world is presently in. “Good Trouble” is a rallying cry to fight for human rights in a homage to civil rights leader John Lewis. The song is a monstrous banger with a dark and menacing soundscape. “Disinformation” deals with the dangers of consuming mass media without critical thinking. It’s a driving track with captivating syths and buzzsaw guitar riffs.
On “Search and Destroy”, Ministry collaborates with the esteemed Billy Morrison (Billy Idol/Royal Machines). They offer a unique take on the beloved Stooges classic. Morrison is featured on a number of songs on the album. The record also includes a collaboration with Jello Biafra on “Sabotage Is Sex”. Biafra is a cohort of Jourgensen in their side project Lard. Other strong tracks on Moral Hygiene are the groove laden “Believe Me”, the eastern influenced “Broken System” and the hyponic “Death Toll”.
With Moral Hygiene, Ministry has constructed a masterwork of invincible proportion. The music is strapping and the message is profound. Jourgensen is an unabashed sage of modern times.
