SLASH FEATURING MYLES KENNEDY AND THE CONSPIRATORS

Monday night Jagger and I met up at Cask and Flagon in Boston to head over to The House of Blues for Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. I have seen this group a few times and it has been one of my lucky “guitar pick” catching bands, having caught picks in the past from Slash (Lead Guitar), Todd “Dammit” Kerns (Bass) and Frank Sidoris (Guitar). The other members are Myles Kennedy (Vocals) and Brent Fitz (Drums). Tonight, after a long day of work we decided to hang out by the mixing board and just catch some memories.

Tonight’s set was different than in the past as with the band’s 4th album, 4 (Snakepit Records), just being released, it was mostly all Slash songs. No Guns N’ Roses covers tonight. The crowd was fired up as soon as the lights went down and the opening song “Driving Rain” did not disappoint. It was followed by “My Antidote” and “Shots Fired”. The band sounded great and well, Slash is Slash, playing extended solos in the middle of songs. He is the reason the venue was packed and the crowd was loving every minute of it. “Halo” was next then “Back From Cali”, “Spirit Love “, “The River Is Rising” and “Whatever Gets You By”.

Kerns took over on vocals for the first cover of the evening “Always On The Run” by Lenny Kravitz. He sounded great and did not disappoint when he sang later in the set too. Kennedy returned to the mic for  “Standing in the Sun”, “Speed Parade”, “C’est La Vie”, “Fill My World”, “The One You Loved Is Gone” and “Call Off The Dogs”. Kerns filled in to sing “ Doctor Alibi” and then the final cover of the set. Kennedy delivered a great interpretation of “Rocket Man” by Elton John. “Nothing to Say”, “You’re A Lie”, and  “World On Fire” closed out the main set.

The encore was “Anastasia” which contains my favorite Slash riff, including all his Guns N’ Roses work. My lucky “pick” streak with the band stayed alive as walking out I stumbled upon a Sidoris pick just laying there waiting for me.

Plush, an all female band opened the show. Featuring Moriah Formica (Vocals/Guitar), Brooke Colucci (Drums), Bella Perron (Guitar), and Ashley Suppa (Bass), they played a 7 song warm up highlighted by a cover of Heart’s “Barracuda” that had the crowd amped and ready for a good night of rock.
