FORTUNE CHILD – ALL I WANNA TO KNOW – SINGLE REVIEW

fortunechild

Jacksonville, Fl based rock band Fortune Child has released a new single entitled “All I Wanna Know”. This follows their recent track that dropped in December, “Fool Me Once”. AMP first reviewed the band  last March when we totally enjoyed their album, Close to the Sun. The record was a brazen creature of unrelentless rock & roll. Every song on that full length was a groove laden tornado of aural magic.

Now a three piece, Fortune Child is comprised of Christian Powers (Lead Vocals/Drums), Buddy Crump (Guitar) and Jon Ward (Bass). The group has built up an amazing fanbase through their consist touring. They have shared the stage with such illustrious acts such as All Them Witches The Georgie Thunderbolts, Blacktop Mojo and Classless Act. AMP has actually reviewed most of these great artists in previous features.

Fortune Child‘s “All I Wanna Know” is a killer track that reveals the band’s dynamic songwriting and expert musicianship. The song cranks with an infectious flow in addition to containing impetuous phonic textures. Every note is electrifying. Powers’ vocals are full of exuberant enthusiasm. Crump’s guitar wails with stellar riffs while Ward’s bass is magnificent.  “All I Wanna Know” is plainly captivating. Speaking about the song, the band states:

“All I Wanna Know” is the next step towards what we feel is becoming our new sound. It holds true to our Rock roots, but there’s also a bit of a sonic expedition in the mid section, and the visual that goes along with the video hints at that as well. We’ve got a lot of genre-bending in our future and we feel like this is our first real leap in that direction as a trio.”

Fortune Child‘s December release was “Fool Me Once”. The tune is a swampy jewel of gutsy forcefulness. Crump’s guitar is bold and hypnotic Power’s voice carries a bluesy feel with his gnarly intonations. Ward’s bass is crushing. The entire song blazes with a funky cadence. Speaking about the tune, Fortune Child declares:

“Although ‘Fool Me Once’ was recorded in the studio, it was done live – in one room, all at once, and in one take. This track sonically encompasses how we feel emotionally about music and each other as a band. It’s raw, loud as hell, just punch-you-in-the-mouth sorta sound. With this being our debut single as a trio, we really wanted to come out with a bang. Give it a listen, we’re sure you’ll get it.”

These two singles are just the tip of the iceberg. Fortune Child will be releasing a new single a month for the foreseeable future. And we can’t wait.
