FRANK VIELE – HEARTS WE LEFT BEHIND – SINGLE REVIEW

Frank Viele continues to astound. His new single is entitled “Hearts We Left Behind” and once again he has crafted a classic. Viele is a consummate wordsmith. His songs contain magic dust capable of spinning webs of musical ecstasy. His journeys to Muscle Shoals have been quite productive. In over two years of recording there, he has penned over three albums worth of songs. Working with such illustrious producers as Jimmy Nutt ( Jason Isbell, The Dead South) and James LeBlanc (Travis Tritt, Tim McGraw) he has written a treasure trove of melodic gems that showcase his immense talent.

“Hearts We Left Behind” is a prime example of Viele‘s superb songwriting. It’s full of vibrant colors and lush textures. His vocals carry a special character while the track’s flow is energetic and care free. The tune harbors excellent guitar riffs and keys that float freely through the atmosphere. His hooks are intoxicating. Speaking of the song, Frank expounds:

“I wrote this song during my first writing session in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, less than 12 hours after landing at the Birmingham airport. Walking the grounds that a ton of my musical heroes had walked on that first day was awe inspiring. I started thinking about the journey I had been on as an artist and how it inadvertently led me to the birthplace of so much of the music that had inspired me along the way. I sat down to write this song in the studio with my producers (James LeBlanc and Jimmy Nutt) and the idea of
pushing forward towards what you want but not running away from what made you who you are was cycling through my head

And it led me to the story of two folks falling for each other later in life after battling through a magnitude of wrong decisions, dead ends, tough roads, and broken hearts. The beautiful part is that it’s all of the twists and turns along their individual journeys that made them the people they are; the people who now complete each other in a special way and together are meant for something more than either could’ve hoped for on their own. So in the end, a new journey begins with rough individual pasts in the shadows but a bright and exciting future together in front of their eyes.“.

“Hearts We Left Behind” is the first single being released in a series of songs leading up to the release of a full length album in the Summer of 2023. Having previewed some of these upcoming new tunes during his dynamic live performances, I can truly say Frank Viele will be a monstrous force in the 2023 music scene. Be forewarned.
