NOTHING BUT THIEVES

Nothing but Thieves are a five-piece alternative / pop band founded in 2012 in Essex, UK.  Moody and sensual, the music has many influences, the most obvious being Radiohead and Muse. Nothing but Thieves use these influences as a building block to forge an identity uniquely their own.  Their first release “Nothing But Thieves” (RCA Music) is an excellent rookie outing.  Not every song in the 16 song album is a home run, but there are enough hits to whet the appetite.  “Trip Switch” the first song to catch my attention, “Itch” and “Wake Up Call” all produce foot tapping and head swaying.  Connor Mason’s unique voice and the band infectious beat demand your attention.  Their ballads are either moody, “If I Get High”, or poppy “Graveyard Whistling”.  They accomplished their goal on both. Their real gems come from their mid rockers like “Hostage” and “Excuse Me” where you really feel their passions.  All in all, Nothing but Thieves is a worthy listen from a band with a wealth of promise.
