b-SIDE BALLROOM – ONEONTA, N.Y.
Oneonta N.Y. is a college town where most bars and clubs cater to the tastes of young adults. Local professionals with appreciation for music have limited options. One shining exception to this is the b-Side Ballroom, a supper club where you can find a good Cuban sandwich, a local Belgian style Ommegang Ale, and music where lyrics are clear and brass instruments, stand-up bass, and fiddle are welcome. Regular acts include the bluesy originals of Dana Lacroix and her unique sound honed in Canada and perfected in Denmark, the western swing music of Brooklyn based Sweet Back Sisters, and old standards from local product Steve Fabrizio and his band (pictured) which includes Oneonta area students, professors, and doctors recreating Sinatra, Bennett and the like. A little gem in a little upstate city.
