DAN REED NETWORK – STARLIGHT – SINGLE REVIEW
Dan Reed Network (DRN) drops a driving new single entitled “Starlight” off their forthcoming full length, Let’s Hear It For The King, via Drakkar Entertainment. The release date is set for March 4th,2022. The record will be their 6th studio album and their newest since Origins in 2018. DRN is known for their dynamic hybrid sound encompassing funk, rock and soul. Founded in Portland, Oregon in 1984, the band has amassed a huge fanbase and have toured extensively throughout the world. DRN is comprised of Dan Reed (Vocals,/Guitar) Brion James (Guitar/Vocals/Synths), Melvin Brannon II (Bass/Vocals), Dan Pred (Drums/Percussions) and Rob Daiker (Keyboards/Vocals).
Let’s Hear it For The King delivers 13 explosive tracks that espouses a profound avalanche of aural TNT. It was recorded at The Commune Studio in Portland, Oregon and produced by Rob Daiker and Dan Reed.
“We are chopping at the bit to get out there and bring people what we genuinely believe is the heaviest, funkiest and most melodic DRN album to date” says Dan Reed. “These songs are the strongest representation of the band’s sound that we’ve ever created. You have been warned“!
“Starlight” is by far the hardest hitting song written by DRN. It opens with an aggressively bold rhythm with vibrant percussions and gnarly guitars. Reed’s vocals have a voracious character embracing multi-leveled textures. His voice entwines a little blues, some rock and a ton of powerfully melodic inflections. Pred’s drums have a captivating cadence with an emotional depth. Brannon’s bass upholds an audacious punch. The backing harmonies bring a certain anthemic excitement. The song is definitely a banger embracing a new road for DRN. The video for “Starlight” was directed by Dan Pred and is a spectacular romp filmed in an industrial setting with circus performers intermixed with shots of the band.
The album coincides with Dan Reed Network‘s European tour that includes a nine date co-headline UK run with Reckless Love featuring special guest Collateral. DRN will also play headline shows in Sweden, Norway, Belgium and Germany.
“The new album snarls and bites” says an enthusiastic Dan Reed. “We wanted to cut its teeth alongside some young, high energy bands, so who better than Reckless Love and Collateral. These boys can rock. Anyone who’s seen the band live know that’s where we come to life. We’re ready to deliver a lot of energy and give the audience a direct shot of funk n’ roll“.
If “Starlight” is any example, Let’s Hear It For The King is going to be a rampaging beast of an album. Like Reed said “You’ve been warned”.
