FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY / BODYSNATCHER / SYLOSIS / DISTANT – LIVE

Fit for an Autopsy brings their dynamic tour to Toad’s Place in New Haven with Judiciary, Sylosis, Distant and Bodysnatcher for support.
Going out on a Sunday night can be difficult with work the next morning but this lineup did not disappoint and was definitely worth the lack of sleep. Usually the opening bands are ok but I have to say this was a show where all 5 bands were fantastic and had the crowd moshing and crowd surfing from the get go.
Opening the show was Judiciary, a band from Lubbock, Texas These guys are a hardcore punk/metalcore band and they were on fire! The members consist of Jake Collinson on vocals, Kyle Calfin on guitar, Austin Scott-Looney on drums, Israel Garza on guitar and Jerel Ramirez on bass. Judiciary stands out for its unique sound and powerful lyrics. Their music combines elements of hardcore and thrash, making it fresh and exciting.
Judiciary showcases raw emotions and intense energy, which resonates with fans. This powerful sound creates an atmosphere that is perfect for live performances. The energy of the crowd in turn fuels the band’s performance. When Judiciary plays live, the connection between the band and the audience is undeniable, making every show a memorable experience. What a killer way to open a show with these guys.
Next up on the stage was yet another killer band. It looks like this night will be heavy and powerful. Sylosis is a British heavy metal band from Reading, Berkshire signed to Nuclear Blast Records and were formed in 2000. The members are Josh Middleton, Ali Richardson, Conor Marshall, and Ben Thomas. Sylosis stands out with their impressive blend of melodic death metal and thrash. Their intricate guitar work and powerful vocals create a captivating sound that draws the audience in.
The energy they bring to the stage is infectious, making it impossible for fans to stand still, with all crowd surfing and moshing going on. Their performance feels like a journey, as Sylosis takes the audience through a range of emotions, from aggression to introspection. I absolutely loved seeing them for the first time and cant wait to see them again.
Sylosis was followed by an extremely heavy and brutal band called Distant. The crowd went crazy with these guys. Distant is from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and Bratislava, Slovakia. The band consists of Alan Grnja on vocals, Elmer Maurits on bass, Nouri Yelgin on guitar, and Rene Gerbrandij on drums. Distant did not disappoint as they took the stage and delivered an unforgettable night. From the moment Distant began their set, the energy in the room was palpable.
The band opened with powerful tracks like “Hollow” and “Doomscroll,” instantly captivating the audience. Their unique blend of deathcore and metalcore created a heavy atmosphere that resonated throughout the venue. Fans responded with enthusiasm, headbanging and cheering as the band showcased their impressive musicianship and raw intensity.
The musicianship displayed by Distant was remarkable. The intricate guitar riffs and hard-hitting drums were perfectly complemented by the powerful vocals. The band’s ability to mix crushing breakdowns with melodic elements kept the crowd engaged and eager for more. Once again, Each song felt like a journey. Distant also took the audience through a range of emotions, from aggression to moments of reflection.
Fourth on the stage was Bodysnatcher. This show is amazing with one great band after another. Bodysnatcher hit the stage with King of Rats and the fans were loving it from the first second. These guys are a rising star in the heavy music scene, and they deserve attention for their unique sound and powerful messages. This band not only captivates listeners with its intense music but also inspires them to confront personal struggles and social issues.
Bodysnatcher stands out for its heavy sound that combines elements of metalcore and deathcore. The band’s aggressive guitar riffs and brazen vocals create a striking experience that captures the listener’s attention. Bodysnatcher has melodic sections and hard-hitting breakdowns, which keeps fans engaged.
This blend of styles not only draws in fans of heavy music but also appeals to those who appreciate an emotional depth in lyrics. Moreover, Bodysnatcher’s lyrics often reflect personal struggles and real-life challenges. The band consists of Kyle Medina on vocals, Kyle Shope on bass, Kyle Carter on guitar, and Chris Whited on drums and these guys hail from Melbourne, Fla.
Last but certainly not least, Fit for an Autopsy hit the stage with their song “Lower Purpose”. I was thrilled to finally see these guys and what a heck of a show they put on. Fit for an Autopsy is an American deathcore band that blends groove and death metal as well as their own personal diatribes. They combine heavy riffs and powerful energy and made it an unforgettable experience for metalheads. This combination of crushing guitar riffs and aggressive drumming creates an atmosphere that was both electrifying and immersive.
Fans quickly got involved, with many headbanging and moshing, energized by the band’s raw intensity. The bold vocals added a layer of emotion to the performance, making every song resonate deeply with the audience. Fit for an Autopsy‘s musical abilities were truly impressive throughout the show. Each band member showcased their talents, from intricate guitar solos to thunderous bass lines, creating a wall of sound that filled the venue.
As the band moved through their set, the crowd responded with enthusiasm. It created a unified front that made the concert feel intimate despite the larger venue. As the night came to a close, Fit for an Autopsy delivered an explosive finale that left fans wanting more. What a great night with five powerhouse bands at the infamous Toads Place. Fit for an Autopsy has performed at Toad’s Place before this show and generally expresses positive feelings about playing there.
