GLASS ANIMALS

College Street Music Hall

Glass Animals Live

Another phenomenal show at College Street Music Hall. Glass Animals brought their 2017 tour to New Haven on August second and the city was electrified. Not only was the weather intense with strong storms and winds but the College Street stage was illuminated by the band’s music and staging. From the outset the sold out venue was totally animated. Glass Animals opened with “Life Itself”, their first hit from their recent release How To Be A Human Being. Then they went right into “Black Mambo” , their huge hit from their first release Zaba. At this point the audience was like jelly, rolling with each subsequent song.

Dave Bayley on lead vocals was superb. As an energetic front-man he moved and danced like a manic mannequin propelling the pit into a frenzy. Drew MacFarlane on guitar/keys was astounding. Edmund Irwin-Singer and Joe Seaward kept the backbeat on point on bass/keys and drums respectively. “The Other Side of Paradise” and “Season 2 Episode 3” back to back in the middle of the set were amazing. “Youth”, another hit off How To Be a Human Being hit the mark. Best of all was “Gooey, where Bayley jumped into the pit and sang among his adoring fans. My two personal favorites, “Cane Shuga” and “Pork Soda” (which ended the show) had the perfect laid back cool vibe. Glass Animals proved they are a force to be reckoned with.
