I got to catch Jordana’s last stop of her most recent tour on a Sunday night at the Sinclair in Cambridge. For those unfamiliar with Jordana, she is a newer artist with a pretty wide array of music interests which comes through in her discography. She could potentially be bucketed as a pop singer, but that might not be fair. She is best known for her collaborative album with Tv Girl titled “Summer’s Over”.

This album has lots of attention on streaming platforms. On Spotify, the top streamed song called “Better in the Dark” has racked up over 190 million listens. This album is basically a low-fi album with some catchy pop vocals supplied by Jordana. It is what initially piqued my interest with Jordana, and why I wanted to check her out in person.

Like I said earlier, Jordana’s music is kind of all over the place. Her latest album titled, Lively Premonition is a pop-folk album. For Jordana’s last stop on tour, she opted to play this album from top to bottom. The crowd was pumped to hear this was her plan.

The audience consisted of primarily (female) college students, and the performance was unlike anything I have ever seen live. I don’t have a baseline for seeing this type of music live, but Jordana’s performance was extremely dramatic and engaging. She drew in the crowd as though she was performing in a play, not just making her way through a set list.

Jordana is not only a very talented vocalist, she also was great on the violin as well as the guitar. For the song, “Anything For You,” she broke out her Gibson SG and played very skillfully. Since it was the last stop on tour, it seemed Jordana wanted to really milk the set. She was giving the crowd tons of insight into each song and had some jokes that most of the crowd found pretty amusing.

The touring band consisted of drums, bass, guitar, and keys. The keys really came through during “Raver Girl” which made the song sound straight out of the 80’s. This song is a great example of how “all over the place” Jordana’s sound can be. I think that this approach will work for her since she always puts a poppy twist on the music. Whatever the sound she chooses to take on, it will be very accessible to many people.
