LAW & CHAOS / TROY REDFERN / FRIED DOUGH
AMP is revisiting four artists whom we previously featured this year. All four have released ambitious new product that is worth another review. The amount of excellent music that is currently being dropped is amazing. It’s extremely hard to keep up. Hopefully you enjoy the wonderful depth and variety these acts bring to the table.
LAW & CHAOS
Our vivacious friends are at it again. Law & Chaos have released an elegant single entitled “Now All I Do Is Play the Blues”. The musical duo comprised of Nick Andrea and T.J. Sullivan have created a sophisticated and melancholy tune that captures the perfect late night ambiance sipping scotch and ruing over a lost love.
Written by Nick Andrea and produced by Craig T. Fall of Eldora Grande Studios, “Now All I Do Is Play the Blues” explores one of the most vivid and universal of human feelings: being trapped hopelessly in a broken relationship. Law & Chaos had the opportunity to collaborate with several fellow musicians including master saxophonist Jim Scimonetti (The Coasters/Chuck Berry) and pianist Jeff Paris (Keb Mo/Robert Cray). Veteran guitarist, Sullivan provided a blues counterbalance to Andrea’s cool jazzy elements.

TROY REDFERN
Guitarist and singer/songwriter Troy Redfern just released his third single off his audacious latest album, The Fire Cosmic “Sanctify” follows of the heals of his previous single, “Ghosts”, which AMP recently reviewed. “Sanctify” is a dynamic banger that features Redfern‘s brilliant slide guitar prowess. He describes the track as a “heavy blues-billy boogie stomp”.
“Sanctify” plainly cranks. The driving tune takes no prisonous. Redfern‘s guitar riffs are pulverizing and aggressively stellar. His vocals are manic and full of passion and verve. Written on a beat up, 1929 National Triolian Resonator, “Sanctify” secures Redfern as an extraordinary talent ready to burst.

FRIED DOUGH
Our Canadian friends, Fried Dough has released a moody and intoxicating track entitled “Low Cut”. It’s an intimate spoken word verse that give way to a lush and reflective chorus. Fried Dough is an experimental electronic ensemble that weaves together elements of electronica, trip hop, IDM and pop. The band is made up of Aaron Gaistman, Andrew Cariboni and Nolan Bouvier.
“Low Cut” is a dramatic composition full of dreamy textures. The entire ambiance is emotive and ethereal. The vocals are melodically edgy and it carries an the addictive cadence. “Low Cut’ demonstrates the versatility of Fried Dough. They can throw out exciting dance beats yet still construct exquisite celestial melodies such as “Low Cut”. As we said in our previous review, Fried Dough once again captures our imagination and takes us on fantastic sonic journey.

THE L.A. MAYBE
The Carolina-based hard rock ensemble The L.A. Maybe have released released an official music video for their song “When I’m Gone’ off their debut album, Dirty Damn Tricks. The band fronted by intrepid lead singer Alvi Robertson mashes elements of classic rock, voracious guitar licks and modern rock sensibility in order to create something adventurous and fresh.
The band wrote “When I’m Gone” after the anguish of the suicide of a close friend. They used the song as “a form of therapy and to hopefully inspire others with a message of hope“. The tune is intensely emotional and profoundly heartfelt. Speaking about the video Dallas Dwight states: “This video is our most ambitious effort yet. Filmed over two months, across 5 beautiful locations around the Southeastern United States… we shot through pouring rain, searing heat, and breathtaking scenery“.

All four artists/bands are great. I love the bluesy jazz vibe of Law & Chaos’ song “Now All I Do Is Play the Blues”, and I agree with you that Troy Redfern really knows how to rock! Fried Dough’s “Low Cut” is right up my alley, and probably my favorite of the tracks you shared in this post. And The L.A. Maybe’s “When I’m Gone” is a terrific and deeply moving anthem.
