MOON KISSED ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM AND LEAD SINGLE
By Ralph Beauchamp
Moon Kissed is a dynamic indie three piece based out of NYC. The band is announcing today the release of the new album entitled I’ll See You In New York via Final Girl Records on 9/20. In addition, Moon Kissed drops the lead single from the full length. “101” is a dreamy masterpiece that features lofty vocals and immersive textures. The track is anthemic in nature and delivers fresh innovative intonations.
Moon Kissed is composed of three impressive and singular musicians who create utter enchantment with their brazen songwriting. Khaya Cohen (Vocals), Elijah Scarpati (Guitar/Drums) and Em Sgouros (Synth) all transport their music to heavenly arenas. Their tunes are infectious with poignant themes that encompass the exploration of one’s self, desire and the depths of heartbreak. Moon Kissed‘s music is both charismatic and energized in nature. Their aural explosions and sonic detonations are incredibly vivid and determined.
They’re a once-in-a-blue-moon type of band – that creates their own magic and community. Throughout their years as a band, they’ve cultivated a party scene of their very own: from throwing underground punk shows to playing and selling out venues like Bowery Ballroom, Elsewhere and Music Hall of Williamsburg.
“101” begins with a plethora of sublime grooves while Cohen’s vocals fills the track with harmonic beauty. The drums and keys slowly emerge to create an aura of blissful fascination. The tune has an impetuous feel and flares with captivating rhythms. It ends with a crescendo of massive impassioned inflections. “101” is a true beauty that offers a kaleidoscope of pure lushness embedded in indie wizardry.
Speaking about the single, Scarpati notes:
““101” is a song about despair, longing, and learning what feels right. It’s the first song we ever wrote as a band and has captured and preserved the energy and alchemy of the band’s years together. Its dreamy guitar and swelling synths created Moon Kissed’s characteristically cinematic atmosphere while the lyrics teeter delicately between rosey nostalgia and cutting nihilism.
The first time I played this song for the person I’m in love with she said, “The end sounds like a tornado and mountain coming undone.” “101” is ultimately about being pushed off a cliff and in the blink of an eye returned to the top only to fall again and feel the delirium of having your stomach flip up to your heart, feeling like it might break apart at any moment.”
“101′ is just one example of the treasures to be found in I’ll See You In New York. The album contains ten cinematic tunes that showcase Moon Kissed‘s superpowers. From bangers like “Cycles” to the addictive “Where Do We Go”, the full length is gutsy yet refined. Every song carries its own mark and rapacious character. As their previous albums have artfully woven the vibrant tapestry of Moon Kissed‘s world, I’ll See You In New York cements their potent identity and secures the band’s place in modern music history.
Moon Kissed is the band for the future. They will bewitch the musical universe with their extraordinary depth and glistening songwriting. I hope you enjoy “101” as much as I do. Let me know if you agree. Also, I’ll See You In New York will be an instant alternative classic. Mark my words.
