Nevermøuяи AND CARRIED BY VI LIVE @THE BEERACKS
On October 21st, The Beeracks in East Haven hosted a strong lineup of propulsive music. Nevermøuяи and Carried by VI were two the the artists performing.
A little about the Beeracks. It’s Ct.’s first collaborative brewery. They distill for a slew of smaller yet quite worthy breweries such as Hoax, Overshores and Armada. The management decided to convert a section of their space for live music which is admirable in the fact they welcome bands that really don’t have many venues to play. Their events are eclectic and many nights you can find various genres of music all mixed together. I applaud their initiative..
On this evening, two of Connecticut’s finer doom/death metal bands made their appearance. First up was Carried by VI. The group has a highly aggressive sound combining hardcore, doom and metal. This is reinforced with a driving groove laden mix. Carried by VI is comprised of Jim Brindisi (Vocals), Chris Ciaffaglione (Guitars), Don Watterworth (Bass) and Ryan Andrews (Drums).
The band opened with an amazing instrumental that showcased their ambitious musicianship. When lead vocalist Brindisi entered, all hell let loose. As a front person, he is stupendous. He captured the attention of the entire venue with his emotive meanderings. His gnarly vocals added to Carried by VI‘s enticing music. Ciaffaglione’s guitar effectively attacked the air while Watterworth’s bass thundered. Andrews on drums was huge. His percussions were crushing. The group played a nine song set with “Beyond Redemption, “Vacant” and “Through The Door” being standouts.
Up next was the brazen Nevermøuяи. The band delivers a monstrous sound with lead vocalist Rach Lux Karma being a spellbinding ingenue . Her ferocious stage presence was intoxicating. She controlled the audience with her fiery and haunting vocals and her neverending boldness. The rest of the group is made up of Roxy (Guitar), Lucas Dellaporta (Guitars), Bily Manik (Keys) and Jodie Kimball (Dums).
Nevermøuяи‘s set consisted of seven hammering songs. They started with “Opening The Circle” and continued with “Sunringer”. By this time The Beeracks was feeling the force. Everyone was totally immersed in their intense bombardment. “Hanging On A Thread” and “Plastic Veins” came next and the crowd was absolutely into it. Throughout their performance, Roxy was hurling powerful riffs while Dellaporta’s bass was stellar. Manik was manic and his keys gave the band a ferocious texture. Kimball’s drums were edgy. By the time they finished with “Closing The Circe”, their fans were ecstatic. By far, an elevated and addictive exploit. Karma’s theatrics alone are worth the price of admission.
I have to apologize to the other two act on the bill as I had to leave to catch another show. I’m sure Fractured Reality and Arcadia Forsaken were just as impressive.
