NOTHING MORE/CROWN THE EMPIRE/THOUSAND BELOW – LIVE
By Zack Eriquezzo
Nothing More, Crown The Empire and Thousand Below play the Palladium to an enthusiastic sold out crowd.
Its 7 pm on Saturday night, April 8th at The Palladium in Worcester, Mass which was built in 1928 and is a beautiful old theater. The staff and security are really nice and pleasant. The sound is always amazing, and you can see the stage very well from every part of the theater. The place is already packed solid and you can feel the anticipation in the air! Everyone is super excited for a great night of amazing music!
First up is Thousand Below and they blew everyone out of the water! Their stage presence was amazing and they got everyone going. Thousand Below is from San Diego, California and their members consist of vocalist James Deberg, Josh Thomas (Guitar), Josh Billimoria (Bass), and Max Santoro (Drums). They have 3 full length albums and one EP. Thousand Below have created some really killer songs from slow and melodic to brutally crushing with a mix of both in quite a few of their songs. They have a great sound and really know how to bring the heat in their live performances.
Next up was Crown the Empire, they wowed everyone and put out a killer performance! They were heavy and powerful! They have 4 albums, 1 compilation album, 25 music videos, and 1 EP. The members of Crown the Empire are Andrew Rockhold on vocals, Brandon Hoover on guitar, Hayden Tree on bass, and Jeeves Avalos on drums and they are from Dallas Texas.
Crown The Empire really bring on the heavy and definitely know how to open up the pit, which they did. The band made the crowd open up like the red sea! They showed us that it is possible to go from soft and melodic to full on brutality! They really know how to hype up the crowd and they do it so well!
Then lastly the band everyone was waiting for, Nothing More! They put on an absolute powerhouse of a show! They had amazing lights and stage props! During their song “Turn It Up Like (Stand In The Fire)”, in the middle, they added part of Black Sabbath’s song “War Pigs” while doing their Scorpion Tail solo! The Scorpion Tail solo was absolutely amazing and was super unique. Jonny got up on the apparatus and was playing the drums as he was hoisted high up in the air! Their song “You Don’t Know What Love Means” really touched me as I can relate to it.
They played a new song called “Best Times” that features Lacey Sturm. The band members consist of Jonny Hawkins on vocals, Mark Vollelunga on guitar, Daniel Oliver on bass and Ben Anderson on drums. They have 6 albums, 1 Compilation album, 12 music videos and 1 EP. For the last song of the show, the band brought out a couple of drums and set them on the barrier and Jonny was whaling on them while the other members were also participating in the drumline. What an epic ending to a killer show.
