ONE IN THE CHAMBER -ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
One In The Chamber is one of Toronto’s premier up and coming artists. The band boasts a raw rock and roll vibe with atmospheric overtones. Think The Doors meets Guns N’ Roses with monstrous riffs. OITC released a five song EP in 2018 entitled I’ve Got Something To Say… and in 2020 dropped two amazing singles
The group is comprised of Mike Biase (Vocals/Guitar), Cecil Eugene (Lead Guitar), Christian Dotto (Bass) and Gerrod Harris (Drums). OITC‘s musicianship is outstanding. When taken together their sound is intensely emotive with gnarly guitar licks and textured vocals. Their songs carry a voracious punch that hits you like a frenzied fireball. One In The Chamber is pushing hard hitting adrenalized rock and roll and taking no prisoners
OITC‘s first single of 2020 was “Blow”. It is a funk ridden gutsy banger. Biase’s vocals are audaciously ferocious. His propulsive snarls hit the mark perfectly. Eugene’s guitar is gritty and the backbeat of Dotto and Harris is sublimely groove laden. The song pops.
“To The Gallows” is a bluesy sludge fest of a tune. Shadowy and edgy. Here, Baise’s voice carries an intense dramatic flair. The music is dark and menacing with brazen guitar riffs and a demonic bass line. Harris’ percussions are bold and on point. “To The Gallows” is ruthless, addictive and savagely powerful.
Gerrod Harris and Christian Dotto were kind enough to answer a few questions about OITC..
AMP: How would describe One In The Chamber‘s sound?
GERROD: Hard hitting, dirty rock and roll best cranked up to eleven!
AMP: How would you say the new singles, “Blow” and “To The Gallows” compare to your debut EP in terms of musical style?
GERROD: I think, as both musicians and a band, the new music marks a significant development. We’re all playing better and I think we’ve grown as songwriters.
AMP: How was recording with Murray Daigle and Mike Smith at Phase One Studios?
CHRISTIAN: Murray Daigle and Mike Smith are fantastic at what they do and know how to bring the best out of our music. They make it easy for us to go in and record our parts and the atmosphere is always comfortable at Phase One Studios.
AMP: What did the band do to stay connected to the fans during the pandemic?
CHRISTIAN: This pandemic has, unfortunately, prevented us from connecting with our fans in person, but we’re always connected with them online. Our fanbase has been incredibly supportive of us, so it’s important that we give them the attention they deserve.
AMP: Any plans for a new single, EP, or album?
GERROD: There will be new music from the band this year and it’ll be delivered in an exciting way!
