The Amp wrapped up its fifth season with a heavy-hitting lineup on the first real chilly night of fall. Opening the night was rising solo artist Kami Kehoe, who’s been getting plenty of radio play lately. She kicked things off with “Something In The Water” and the love song “Obsessed.” Kehoe even hopped behind the drums for “Die 4 U,” showing off some serious rhythm chops. Before closing out with “Kandy” and “Dopamine,” she thanked the headliners for bringing her along on only her second tour. A fun, confident set — definitely an artist to keep on your radar.
Next up, P.O.D. came out swinging with “Boom,” immediately getting the crowd on their feet. Bassist Traa Daniels locked in the groove while frontman Sonny Sandoval welcomed Bridgeport to the rock show. The energy didn’t dip for “Satellite,” with guitarist Marcos Curiel shredding up on the riser and Daniels backing him with tight harmonies. The band worked in some newer material like “Drop” and “I Got That,” before surprising everyone with a soulful cover of the Beatles“ ’Don’t Let Me Down.” The crowd went wild for “Youth of the Nation,” arms swaying and voices loud. After “Lost in Forever” and “Afraid to Die,” they closed with “Alive,” a perfect hands-in-the-air moment that lit up the Amp.
Then came Daughtry, opening with a dramatic smoke show and a killer keyboard intro from Elvio Fernandes. “Divided” set the tone before Chris Daughtry strapped on his guitar for “The Day I Die” and “The Bottom.” He gave Bridgeport a shoutout, then challenged the crowd to bring their voices for a fiery cover of Journey’s “Separate Ways”. Slowing things down, “Pieces” hit an emotional note before the nostalgia kicked in with “It’s Not Over”.
Daughtry took the stage solo for “Home,” telling the crowd, “If you don’t know the words, make some shit up.” The band rejoined for “Antidote” and “The Dam,” with drummer Anthony Ghazel standing out. After running through “Over You,” “Terrified,” and “Heavy Is the Crown,” they wrapped the main set before returning for “Artificial,” complete with an epic light show.
Finally, Seether closed the night — and the season — with pure grit. From the first note of “Pride,” the crowd was up. Frontman Shaun Morgan took his usual spot stage right while John Humphrey tore it up on “Needles.” Corey Lowery’s intro to “Country Song” was a highlight, and the crowd’s voices carried “Rise Above This.” Morgan and Lowery’s harmonies on “Nobody Praying for Me” hit hard, and “Fine Again” had phones lighting up the room.
Morgan and Dale Stewart slowed things down beautifully with “Broken.” The band then ripped through “Wasteland,” “Words as Weapons,” and “Dangerous.” After “Fake It” had the floor bouncing, Morgan thanked the freezing crowd for sticking it out – “It’s fucking cold,” he joked – before ending the night (and the season) with a roaring “Remedy.
