As the clock struck 8 pm, a subtle shift in the venue’s atmosphere signaled the beginning of the spectacle. The lights dimmed, casting a soft glow over the stage as the screens flickered to life. There, Maynard James Keenan appeared, donned in the eccentric attire reminiscent of Puscifer’s “Apocalyptical” video, complete with a sleek suit, aviator sunglasses, and smudged lipstick. The video launched into a tongue-in- cheek discourse, humorously addressing the mystery substance in spam being people that use cell phones during the show.

As the TVs transitioned to A Perfect Circle’s logo, anticipation coursed through the crowd. The first notes of “The Package” resonated throughout the venue, heralding the start of an electrifying performance. Emerging from the darkness, Maynard stood tall on the upper landing of the stage, a striking silhouette against the vibrant lights.

Bulb lights strung across the ceiling bathed the stage in a warm glow, enhancing the overall visual experience. As the music intensified, the lights pulsated in perfect harmony, casting deep, warm oranges that danced along with the rhythm, captivating the audience and adding to the immersive atmosphere.

The stage setup featured a multi-level design that not only served as a visually captivating backdrop but also facilitated dynamic interactions between the band members and the audience. Couches lined the upper level, providing a cozy yet elevated view of the unfolding spectacle. In the center stood three drum kits, each representing the bands set to perform that night and symbolizing the collaborative spirit of the event.

On each side of the stage, stairs descended to the main floor where microphone stands awaited the performers, while an electric standup bass stood ready for Les Claypool’s arrival. The entire setup buzzed with anticipation, hinting at the extraordinary performances yet to unfold.

The transition from “The Package” to “Disillusioned” was executed flawlessly, creating a breathtaking and seamless experience. Once again, the lighting played a crucial role in setting the tone, bathing the venue in warm hues during the verses and transitioning to intense yet calming blues as the chorus kicked in. What made the moment truly special was the absolute silence that enveloped the crowd, with not a sound to be heard except for Maynard’s captivating performance. There were no cellphones held aloft, no cheering; just a sold-out audience completely entranced by the beauty unfolding before them. It was a truly magical moment.

As “The Contrarian” came to a close, the screens seamlessly transitioned from live feeds of the stage to reveal the iconic Primus logo. A Perfect Circle took their places on the couch, while the lights shifted from warm oranges and blues to vibrant magentas and greens. The first familiar notes of “Those Damned Blue-Collar Tweekers” filled the theater as Primus emerged onto the stage, led by the legendary Les Claypool sporting a suit and a bowler hat.

With Primus, the mood and tone shifted to a more light-hearted, eccentric vibe, reflective of the band’s experimental fusion of funk and rock sounds. Claypool, known as a bass virtuoso, effortlessly commanded his instrument, infusing each note with Primus‘s signature style. His distinctive basslines, coupled with his trademark “Les Claypool march” as he played, captivated the audience.

One of the highlights of Primus‘s performance is the prominence of the bass. The guitar and drums serve to amplify and complement the sounds emanating from the bass, with each element contributing to the overall sonic landscape. They continued with crowd favorites like “Too Many Puppies” and “Sgt Baker,”eliciting enthusiastic sing-alongs from the fans and further solidifying Primus’s place as a beloved icon in the world of alternative rock.

Once more, the screen smoothly transitioned, unveiling the distinctive Puscifer logo as the first notes of “Man Overboard” resonated through the venue. Puscifer truly serves as the harmonious bridge that connects Primus and A Perfect Circle together. Their music effortlessly traverses the line between melodic and experimental, echoing the diverse sounds encapsulated by both A Perfect Circle and Primus.

As the electronic beats intertwined with Carina Round and Maynard’s vocals, a seamless blend of voices and sounds filled the air. The ethereal quality of their harmonies created a mesmerizing experience for the audience, captivating them with each haunting note and pulsating rhythm. Puscifer‘s performance not only showcased their unique style but also highlighted their ability to unite disparate elements into a
cohesive and captivating musical journey. They continued on with “Tiny Monsters” and “Indigo Children”

The concert featured a dynamic 29-song setlist spanning the performances of A Perfect Circle, Primus, and Puscifer, offering a diverse and electrifying musical experience. Highlights included A Perfect Circle‘s powerful renditions of “Judith” and “The Hollow,” Primus‘s iconic tracks “My Name is Mud” and “Jerry Was a Racecar Driver,” and Puscifer‘s mesmerizing performances of “Momma Sed” and “The Remedy.”

Each band took their turn on stage, delivering standout performances that showcased their unique styles and talents. Special guest appearances further elevated the collaborative atmosphere, with memorable moments such as Maynard James Keenan joining Primus for “Tommy the Cat” and Tim Alexander of Primus adding his expertise to A Perfect Circle‘s “The Hollow.” Notably, Josh Freese, drummer for Foo Fighters, made a triumphant return to A Perfect Circle after 13 years, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event.

Fans were in for a special treat as each of the bands showcased brand new music during the concert. The Sessanta EP, E.P.P.P, available for purchase on the Sessanta website and at the show, features three exclusive tracks: “The Kindred” by A Perfect Circle, “No Angel” by Puscifer, and “Pablo’s Hippos” by Primus, featuring Maynard on the track.

These new songs offer a glimpse into the distinctive sounds and characteristics of each band. “The Kindred” captures the haunting melodies and emotional depth that A Perfect Circle is known for, while “No Angel” by Puscifer introduces listeners to their eclectic blend of electronic and rock elements. “Pablo’s Hippos” by Primus brings their signature funk-infused sound to the forefront, with Maynard’s presence adding an extra layer of intrigue to the track.

Despite each band’s distinct style, they complemented each other perfectly, creating an unforgettable musical experience. The night was filled with memorable moments, from Maynard receiving a cupcake with a single candle to an intense Rock ’em Sock ’em Robots battle between Maynard and Carina Round. A personal favorite was Les Claypool’s dramatic entrance with his Pig Mask and bow as he ascended to the second level in a chair lift.

The best moment of the night was “Grand Canyon” when everyone was on the stage. It was a true moment of musical genius to see so much talent in one location. Claypool dawning his pig mask took his place with his electric cello. The deep beats of all three drummers in sync with each other, the guitarists all executing deep rifts, and Maynard and Round’s voices melding everything into a perfect cherry on top way to end such an eccentric epic night.

As the final notes of the concert echoed through the theater, the audience erupted into applause and cheers, their spirits soaring after an unforgettable night of music. Slowly, the crowd began to disperse, reluctantly leaving the vibrant atmosphere of the venue behind as they made their way back into the bustling casino.

Exiting the theater, fans were greeted once again by the neon glow and lively sounds of Foxwoods Casino. Conversations buzzed with excitement as concertgoers shared their favorite moments from the show, their faces illuminated by the colorful lights of the slot machines.

Despite the end of the concert, the energy of the evening lingered in the air, leaving a sense of euphoria and satisfaction among attendees. As they dispersed into the casino, each person carried with them memories of an extraordinary night filled with music, camaraderie, and the shared joy of experiencing something truly special.
