SEVEN YEAR WITCH – I WANNA LOVE YOU – SINGLE REVIEW
South Carolina’s Seven Year Witch recently dropped a brilliant cover of Akon’s rap hit, “I Wanna Love You”, with a rousing accompanying video. Seven Year Witch is a brazen hard rock ensemble that incorporates elements of blues, punk and pop to create something truly exceptional. The band hails from Pendleton, S.C. and is comprised of Aaron Langford (Vocals), Spencer Burdon (Bass), Seth Burdon (Drums) and Beau Anderson (Guitar).
Seven Year Witch released their debut album entitled Songs Our Mothers Love in 2018. It was filled with edgy rockers and funky blues inspired ballads. The entire record explodes with spirited energy and glowing vocals. The guitars hit stellar licks and the backbeat is fiercely captivating. Because of such memorable tunes such as “Pipe Dream”, “Whore House” and the intensely bluesy “Peril”, Seven Year Witch have amassed an enthusiastic fanbase. They also supported such heavies as Saliva, POD and Pop Evil.
In 2019, the band put out two kick ass singles that solidified their promising future. “White Horses” and “My Turn” both crank with unbridled voracity. Langford’s vocals are dynamic and full of emotive fervency. Anderson’s guitar is killer with inspired solos and memorable licks. Burdon’s bass crackles with dexterity while Seth’s percussions pound with unmatched fury..
This year, Seven Year Witch followed with two more smashing singles. “Shit Keeps Happenin” is a determined banger that has a savage tempo and an addictive ambiance. The entire track is an aural flood of punchy guitars and intense vocals. The anthemic harmonies are superb. Their newest release, “I Wanna Love You” is a blues-infused monster. Seven Year Witch‘s remake of Akon’s huge rap hit transforms the tune into a sonic assault. The bass is smoothly vibrant. The drums are richly aggressive. Langford’s vocals carry a bold sensibility that is imposing and brassy. Anderson’s guitar snaps with a wild cinematic keenness.
Speaking about the new single, the band states:
“I Wanna Love You by Akon is a song we all love. We put our own spin on it and started performing it live to great reception. After all the demand we decided to record our cover of it. So here it is, our version of I Wanna Love You by Akon”.
The video was recorded, engineered and mixed by Chase Brown of Atlanta based rock band, The CEO. It was filmed live at the Blue Light Lounge in Chattanooga, TN. The video features the band showcasing their charismatic personalities and musical prowess. All of Seven Year Witch’s videos are totally fun, entertaining and full of ruthless heat.
Seven Year Witch is a band on the move. Catch them when you can.

Wow, what an exciting, sexy and charismatic band! Their sound reminds me a bit like Aerosmith, and in fact, the lead singer has the swagger of Steven Tyler. Great review.
Glad you enjoyed them
