SLAUGHTER TO PREVAIL – LIVE AT THE XFINITY CENTER

By Mia Palazzo

Slaughter to Prevail was the direct support on Falling in Reverse’s God Is A Weapon Tour at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield on Saturday. This date of the tour also featured Point North and Hollywood Undead.

By the time Slaughter to Prevail hit the stage, the venue was already practically full. Front to back was filled with fans who when the band began showed that they weren’t just there for the headliner. I have seen Slaughter to Prevail numerous times, from big stages to small stages, and I can confidently say that this show proved that they never disappoint.

The setlist was filled with newer songs, which I was very much not complaining about as the band just released their latest album Grizzly in July of this year. It seemed that the set was also filled with fan favorites. The show opened with “Banditos”, a song off of Grizzly. This was the perfect start to the show. Alex Terrible, the vocalist of Slaughter to Prevail walked out, mask on with the rest of the band as is their signature. The first note hit and the crowd went wild behind me. Almost everyone on the barricade was immediately banging their head or throwing up horns.

The set was a shorter one, highlights for me included “Russian Grizzly in America”, a song that only came out this year that caused absolute chaos throughout the entirety of the venue. This isn’t a song I knew, nor is it one that I realized was as big as it was but I can confidently say this was one of the most powerful songs of the night. My favorite song of theirs, “Baby Yaga” was played second which I was ecstatic about because I was in the photo pit. And finally the band closed with “Demolisher”.

“Demolisher” in itself makes seeing Slaughter to Prevail completely worth the time. The energy during the set is always like nothing you’ll ever see at a show. Alex puts on display his true vocal talent as he screams the key point in the song, “Demolisher” with no microphone. You may be thinking that in a venue that seats almost 20,000 people you wouldn’t be able to hear his scream from the back but I promise no matter where in the venue you were, you could hear it. The band ended their set thanking their fans, as always and ensured that fans were hyped and ready for Falling in Reverse.
