SOMEONE ANYONE – ARTIST SPOTLIGHT
Someone Anyone is an amazing band out of Hastings in the UK. The group features an eclectic mix of art-pop, jazz, rock and electronica. Honing their skills in a self-built studio, they are focused on releasing vibrant new music. In addition, the group is built on musicianship that brings organic instruments into an electronic world.
Someone Anyone is lead by Harry Osbourne who sings, writes and produces the music. Osbourne is the eccentric frontman whose charisma demands your attention as he floats from intricate folk-guitar to wild, untamed dancing. He works closely with vocalist Poppy Prescott and saxophonist Dan McConkey. The rest of the group is fluid with Someone Anyone still finding its stride.
The band has recently released three diverse and exciting singles. Each one carries its own flavor and intrepid resonance. Someone Anyone‘s music cannot be easily defined as their audacious music is brazenly wide-ranging.
The first single, “Vices”, was released in 2020. The song begins with an emotive acoustic guitar and Osbourne’s plaintive vocals. Soft and silky. Eventually the tempo quickens and the music gets more intense until the tune breaks out into a sonic barrage of sound with manic vocals. Slowly we return to the earlier passive meanderings. Someone Anyone is showcasing their superb songwriting and their desire to create something novel. Music that defies boundaries.
Quoting Osbourne from an Atwood Magazine article he states: “This song is all about the journey you go through with grief. The anger, the hurt and the self destruction that comes with it. It’s easy to forget about self love when you’re in a dark place“. The music definitely fits that description to a tee.
The next single is “Turning on Each Other”. Someone Anyone meshes an addictive monstrous beat with adventurous synths and massive jazz inflections to capture a cacophony of bold melodies. The song is pure electronica ambrosia. In addition, McConkey’s sax accents are quite memorable. The interlocking of the dynamic genres combined with their sublime arrangements creates a divine aural eargasm. Even though the music may be upbeat, the message is more topical. Someone Anyone is calling for unity among the downtrodden and suppressed. It’s the only way to achieve human rights goals.
The newest release is the melodic and soulful, “Less Life”. The song features vocals by Poppy Prescott. Her voice is impressively smooth and sensual. Her romantic seasoning is magnificent.. Also, Someone Anyone powers the song with exquisites grooves and cool jazz coloring. A totally engaging tune that reminds one of Begonia.
Hopefully, these three singles are just the tip of the iceberg. Each song is musically distinct and individually unique. Their sound is beautifully textured and spunky. Someone Anyone is a band on the move.

I like bands with both male and female vocalists, which gives their sound more variety, texture and opportunities for some really nice harmonies. Their sound is very eclectic, and you’re right about Harry Osbourne having charisma!
