Still Hill Brewery in Rocky Hill is a real gem. The Tap Room is cozy and the brew excellent. Definitely a winning combination. Conceived by owner Scott Barbanel in Feb. 2016 and helped by a Kick-starter campaign Still Hill has grown considerably. That Kick-starter Campaign created the Founders Club. Each donator has their own numbered mug and are invited to members only special events. For regulars there is a Mug Club. I spoke to both Richard (Founder) and John (Mug) and they really enjoyed the benefits. Barbanel started as a home brewer but always had the dream to open a brewery. He’s a student of the Siebel Institute of Technology and a recognized beer judge (BJCP certified)

The following is a short interview with Abigail Bibens, Tap Room Manager.

AMP: What do you find attractive about the taproom?

Abigail: The room is intimate and homey. People find it friendly and comfortable. It feels like your living room.

AMP: How do you categorize the clientele?

Abigail: It’s a total eclectic mix. Young and old, male and female. It’s a interesting blend. I love the diversity. You never know what walks through the door. It’s exciting.

AMP: What kind of events are there at Still Hill?

Abigail: All sorts, We have dart tournaments and comedy shows. We are constantly supporting local artists with music on the weekends. (AMP- I was there to see AMP reviewed Jeff Przech)

AMP: How are the brews rotated?

Abigail: We usually have 5 staples with 4 or 5 seasonal. Scott’s brews are always well received. When we preview a new beer there is usually a large demand.

AMP: Any plans for retail?  

Abigail: We just started canning. Hopefully we do more in the future.

I found Abigail and the entire staff at Still Hill to be friendly and really devoted. I can attest to the quality of the beer. My wife, Jenn, and I had two flights and every beer was superb. The Oktoberfest and Momma’s Imperial Little Helper were excellent. The food catered by Good Food (Kevin Spada) was spot on. Still Hill Brewery should be on your short list. Give it a visit.
