TANTRIC – ZERO ONE ZERO – ODDS OF EDEN – LIVE
On December 3rd, Bleachers in Bristol hosted an evening of high energy and hard hitting rock & roll. Headliners Tantric with local support from the dynamic Zero One Zero and Odds Of Eden powered through a night of spectacular music and memorable performances. As of late, Bleachers has been able to put together some incredible shows. Recently, Saving Abel rocked the house. It is definitely an up and coming music destination for the state.
Zero One Zero and Odds Of Eden are two of AMP’s favorite sons. We have featured them in several pieces and rightfully so. Both bands deliver outstanding compositions and forceful performances.
First up was Odds Of Eden based out of Western Ma. The band played a blistering six song set that was full of sonic energy. Vocalist Jeremy Jones’ voice was extremely strong and vigorous. Tom Hamel on guitar drove through with divine precision. Rick Thibault on bass and drummer Greg Pronovost laid down an invincible backbeat. All six songs pounded the audience with monstrous rhythms and aggressive guitar riffs. In addition the band was extremely tight. “Whiskey” and “Trials and Tribulations” were definitely fan favorites. Odds Of Eden have been on lengthy tour schedule and will be laying low to record some new material in the beginning of 2022.
Next came Zero One Zero which is comprised of the audacious Rob “Boots” Zawisza (Vocals), James Ferrentino (Guitar), Marc Russel (Bass) and Mark Ahles (Drums). From the opening song, “Blistered” Zawisza’s vocals had a truly engaging blues quality with a gnarly metal flow. He’s also a consummate showman who can easily draw in an audience. Ferrentino’s eloquent guitar hammered away with dominant velocity. Russel is a devouring bass player whose bottom has infectious depth. A true madman on his instrument. Ahles’ percussions were booming and rapturously sharp.
Zero One Zero’s whole set was impressive, The crowd really enjoyed all of their songs with “Suicide Snakes’ and “Riptide” getting loud applauses. They also previewed potent new material that will be on their upcoming full length scheduled to be released sometime in 2022.
The imposing Tantric hit the stage to a loud roar from the audience. Tantric has seen many a lineup change since their inception in 1998 but this group of musicians were utterly devastating this night at Bleachers. The only original member is lead vocalist, Hugo Ferreira whose vocal styling can only be described as singular. His voice has an unforgiving savage resonance with grungy intonations and fiery blues accents Perfect for a late night, drinking Jack on the rocks. Sebastian LaBar’s guitar was killer. His buzz saw riffs were captivating. Jaron Gulino on bass was extraordinary. His aural textures filled the room. Newest member, Jon Loree on drums was stellar with rhythmic ferocity.
Not only did Tantric play well, their stage presence was explosive. Ferreira took total command of the stage even though experiencing mic issues. The house loved his onstage banter. LaBar and Gulino had dramatic kinetic energy which further dazzled the crowd. One could see these were well seasoned musicians who knew how to put on a show. The throng was absolutely entertained.
Tantric played old favorites as well as commanding new songs from their latest album, The Sum of All Things released this year on Cleopatra Record. They opened with one of their big hits, “Down and Out”. From there Tantric blasted through fifteen tunes including “Astounded’, “Angry” and “Living Here Without You” from the new record. When Tantric played their monster track, “Breakdown”, the venue felt the band’s brazen vibe. It was a intrepid moment. Right afterwards they tore into “Mourning” which started plaintively with Ferreira singing and playing guitar solo until the full band slammed a propulsive rendition.
It was a wonderful night of tenacious music and fun times. Kudos to all three bands for great music and musical excitement.

You sure do see a lot of live shows Ralph, despite being even older than me!
I always enjoyed the energy of a live show and I really believe concert going has kept me young and dandy. Actually it was probably the drugs and booze.
You are too funny – and probably right!
