TEN TON MOJO
Our good friends from N.Y.C., Ten Ton Mojo have just released their new single “Bad Love” via Curtain Call Records. This is a follow-up to their monstrous hit, “Karmalita” which was one of my top 5 Spotify listens of 2021.Ten Ton Mojo consists of Dave Anthony (Lead Vocals), Scott Lano (Guitar), Christian Realmuto (Guitar), Chris Laubis (Bass/Vocals) and Paul Kane (Drums/Vocals).
“Bad Love’ is a total banger with its earth shattering guitar riffs and thunderous backbeat. Anthony’s vocals soar. His vocal inflections delivers an ambitious turbulence of fiery tonality. The guitar solo is spectacular with a high end dexterity. Laubis’ bass lays down a fearless barrage of molten lava while Kane’s drums pounds a savage beat.
“Bad Love” is just a warm-up. Ten Ton Mojo have big plans for 2022. This is the year that will take them to the top of the scrap heap. They’re will be releasing an EP later this year and plan to tour extensively in order the conquer the world. I’m totally looking forward to the Ten Ton Mojo blast off.

BLACKTOP MOJO
Amp has featured Blacktop Mojo so much in the last few months that my partner, Scott, just exclaimed that we should change the website’s moniker to Blacktop. I can’t help it if the band is constantly putting out rapturous new music. “Strike Me” is a powerful track that delivers an infectious rhythm and vibrant vocals from Matt James. Ryan Keifer and Chuck Wepfer’s guitars impose layers of intricate riffs. Matt Curtis’ bass offers an eruption of sound and Nathan Gillis’ drums have insatiable depth. Blacktop Mojo describe themselves as “Texas grunge” and “Strike Me” fits the bill perfectly.
Their latest full length appropriately entitled Blacktop Mojo, (you can read AMP’s review by clicking the link below in Related ) is an impressive masterpiece which we described as “full of intense fury and sonic explosions”. Live, Blacktop Mojo are manic. The band plays hard and are extremely frenzied on stage. My perfect show for the new year would be the two Mojos on the same bill. Blacktop and Ten Ton would slay.

VELVET WILLOW
Velvet Willow is a four piece hard hitting ensemble out of the Southeast. The band is comprised of Harley Dills (Lead Singer), Owen Dills (Bass), Thomas Hunt (Guitar) and Zak Smith (Drums). Their recent single. “Heavy on the Heart” is full of audacious guitar licks and sublime harmonies. Harley’s vocals carries a gutsy punch and Hunt’s guitar is profoundly emotive. The backbeat of Owen Dills and Zak Smith keeps a silky cadence which holds the tune together.
Their earlier single from 2021, “Truth” is another killer song. It has a stellar beat and again the vocals are lush with a gritty resonance. In addition, the musicianship is top notch. Also, the guitar solo is resolute with gnarly textures. Velvet Willow is definitely a band to watch.
