By Ralph Beauchamp

The Connecticut music scene is definitely on an upswing. For a state that in the past featured very few large concert events, the tides have drastically turned. In particular, this month ushers in the second coming of The Capitol Groove which will be held at Bushnell Park in Hartford. The actual dates are Saturday June 28th and Sunday June 29th. This years Capitol Groove delivers a superb line-up of dynamic artists that will surely satisfy any music lover’s appetite. With headliners like Khruangbin on Saturday and the effervescent vibes of Bleachers on Sunday, The Capitol Groove is the only place to be on that weekend.

2024 was the inaugural year for The Capitol Groove. Our correspondent, Joe Perusse, gave it an outstanding review (see below-related). He praised the the well run organization and whole positive fervor of the festival. That event also featured a wide array of spectacular acts including My Morning Jacket, Dispatch, The Head and The Heart and The Revivalists.

It is organized by Goodworks Entertainment, the same group that handles the two locations of the Infinity Music Halls. In addition, Goodworks is hosting several other high profile events such as the Rhythm & Roots Festival at Ninigret Park in Charlestown RI on August 29th – 31st. Included on that stage will be Little Feat, Trampled By Turtles, Blackberry Smoke and a bevy of top tier artists.

This year’s Capitol Groove is set to be one for the books. Each day is stacked with incredible talent. Besides Khruangbin, Saturday’s grouping is totally magical. Thundercat, thee sacred souls, Steel Pulse and Boston’s Ripe are all slated to play. Sunday is just as strong with Bleachers on top of a bill that includes Cake, Sammy Rae & The Friends and St. Paul and the Broken Bones. Additionally, there is a Local Stage where some of the best artists from the NE will perform. Sponsored by TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik, the TELEFUNKEN Soundstage will showcase talent such as One Time Weekend, Dwayne Keith Project and Riley Cotton with Michael Sanford Day.

In addition, there will be food trucks, vendors and bars offering beer, wine and water. Just remember, The Capitol Groove is cashless, so bring a credit card or have a cash app on your phone. Check their website for parking options and FAQs.

AMP can’t wait to give our readers a complete rundown on The Capitol Groove. In the publication, we have showcased many of the artists performing and seeing them live so close to home is simply astounding. If you haven’t brought your tickets yet, please do. I want to see and meet as many of our readers as possible. This isn’t an event, it’s truly a happening. Come and let the music embrace your soul.
