THE L.A. MAYBE – DIRTY DAMN TRICKS
The L.A. Maybe is an explosive six piece ensemble that hails from the Carolinas. Their sound is a dynamic blend of classic rock, modern day nuances and dramatic riffs. Their music is perfect for fans of Guns N’ Roses, The Black Crowes or Van Halen.
Lead vocalist Alvi Robinson (who was only four singers to audition to replace Brian Johnson in AC/DC in 2016) drives the band with his brazenly tenacious vocals. He’s a powerhouse with ferocious chops. Besides an amazing vocalist, the band trademarks a propulsive groove and some stellar guitar licks. Their musicianship is extremely solid. The group’s songs are full of monstrous hooks and audacious guitar solos. In addition, their rhythm section carries an impressively addictive beat.
The L. A. Maybe have just released their debut full length entitled Dirty Damn Tricks. The record contains 10 memorable tunes that are supersized rockers. Each song on the record is vigorously hard hitting. Just listen to the first two songs. “Mr. Danger” is a brassy masterpiece that showcases the band’s impressive songwriting and ruthless guitar licks. “Sucker Punch” hits you like a runaway freight train. It’s fast, furious and powerfully riff driven. The guitars wail. The percussions and bass are pummeling and Robinson’s vocals are like a rampaging beast. The sublime keys are a nice plus.
There are other songs that brighten Dirty Damn Tricks. The rocking “She’s Reckless”, the countrified “Peace Of Mind” and the textured ballad “When I’m Gone” are all stand outs. The entire disc is a glowing treasure with imposing tunes and rich musical aesthetics.
The L. A. Maybe is Alvi Robinson (Vocals), Dallas Dwight (Guitar), Darryl Silvera (Guitar), Josh Thompson (Keys), Rahsaan Lacey (Bass) and Ryan Fosnow (Drums).
Guitarist and Lyricist Dallas Dwight was kind enough to answer a few questions for AMP.
AMP: Your music has an awesome updated classic rock sound. Who are the band’s main influences?
DALLAS: Of course we’re inspired by all our heroes, many of whom I’m sure you can immediately name upon hearing our music….but who really inspire us are our peers. Bands like Dirty Honey, Small Town Titans, Joyous Wolf, Blacktop Mojo, South of Eden, Greta Van Fleet, and so many more. They keep us hungry and excited to be part of the New Wave of Classic Rock.
AMP: There is six members in the band. How does the logistics work?
DALLAS: We’re blessed to have a group full of guys who are willing to put in the hard work it takes to make it in a band these days. So we do well with everybody taking a relatively fair share of the work and owning their tasks. The result is that we’re able to accomplish a lot more, a lot faster than if just one person did everything.
AMP: Your new album, Dirty Damn Tricks, was just released. How does that feel?
DALLAS: It feels amazing and the amount of positive feedback we’ve received is incredible. Amazing reviews and comments keep pouring in and we’re definitely eating it up!
AMP: How thirsty is the band to play out?
DALLAS: We’re definitely ready to get out there. However, we’re also thankful to have some extra rehearsal time to polish our show so we can come right out of the gate and deliver the best show to our fans possible!
AMP: Where do you see the band a year from now?
DALLAS: We’re dreaming big and swinging for the fences. In the next year we hope to be touring as a strong opening act playing Dirty Damn Tricks to crowds around the world. Now….back to work to make that happen.

Their drummer Ryan is a beast! He’s a joy to watch blasting away at his drum kit.
