WAGE WAR / THROWN / ERRA / FAME ON FIRE – THE DOME

By Donna Marie Eriquezzo

Wage War headlines a captivating show at The Dome in the Toyota Oakdale Theatre with Thrown, ERRA and Fame on Fire for support.

It’s Oct 4, 2023 and I’m excited to see Wage War and all three opening bands at The Dome at the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford, Ct. I have been looking forward to this show for a while and I have to say it was one of the best concerts I have been to in quite some time. All of the bands had the crowd going crazy and the energy in the room was explosive!!

First on the stage is a favorite of mine, Fame on Fire, who are an American rock band from Palm Beach, Florida. I first saw these guys on Shiprocked 23 and was excited to see them once again. They did not disappoint. Fame on Fire are well known for their unique blend of rock, metal, and alternative music. Formed in 2013, the group originally started as a cover band but quickly began writing their own music, gaining attention for their energetic sound and passionate performances.

Fame on Fire have a dynamic groove that combines heavy guitar riffs with catchy melodies and emotional lyrics. The band gained a lot of popularity through their interesting approach to covers, redoing songs from various genres in a rock style. Fame on Fire made their own renditions of popular hits, like “Bad Liar” by Imagine Dragons and “Sorry” by Justin Bieber.

In 2020, the band released their debut EP, Fame on Fire, which features original tracks that really highlight their diverse musical range. Songs like “I’m Not the One” and “The Dark” have received quite a bit of positive feedback from fans and critics alike, establishing Fame on Fire as a rising force in the rock scene. The band members are Bryan Kuznitz (Vocals), Blake Saul (Guitar), Paul Spirou (Bass), and Alex Roman (Drums).

Next on the stage is ERRA, a progressive metalcore band originating from Birmingham, Alabama. Wow!, these guys were heavy and tight! ERRA was formed in 2009 and the band has put out several EPs and studio albums throughout their career. The name “Erra” is derived from the Akkadian deity of chaos and destruction. These guys are well known for their intricate guitar work, powerful vocals, and thought-provoking lyrics.

One of their standout tracks, “Seven,” featured on the album Impulse, explores themes and narratives inspired by the legends of Erra. These guys were audacious and intense. The crowd surfing definitely got started with this band . The band members are Jesse Cash (Guitar), J.T. Cavey (Vocals), Conor Hesse (Bass), Clint Tustin (Guitar) and Alex Ballew (Drums)

Another of my favorites is Thrown who came on next. The power of this band was fanatical. The crowd was going crazy in the mosh pit and heavy crowd surfing ensued . These guys had a heck of a stage presence and they pulled the audience right in with their crushing lyrics and killer riffs. Thrown is a Swedish rock band that has been making waves in the music scene with their captivating sound and energetic performances. Formed in 2019, the band quickly gained attention for their unique blend of alternative rock and metalcore, appealing to fans of various genres.

The lineup includes talented musicians who bring their own influences and styles to the group’s overall sound. The band’s music is characterized by vivid guitar riffs, strong melodies, and powerful vocals. Thrown have worked hard to establish their presence in the rock inner sanctum . They have released several singles that showcase their talent and creativity, gaining traction on streaming platforms and social media.

Their shows are filled with energy and passion, drawing audiences in and creating a memorable experience. The band’s commitment to connecting with their fans during live shows has helped them build a very loyal following, I know I was very impressed with the band and will definitely see them again. Thrown is comprised of Marcus Lundqvist (Vocals), Johan Liljeblad (Guitar), Andreas Malm (Guitar) and Buster Odeholm (Drums).

And finally Wage War hits the stage. The lights are dim and it’s smokey. Lundqvist starts singing “THE SHOWS ABOUT TO START”. The rest of the band enters in such an explosive manner that they thoroughly engaged the audience. What a way to start a show! These guys killed it. Heavy, melodic, fun and powerful. I love this band !!! Halfway through they played my favorite, “Circle The Drain” and the crowd was going berserk. The crowd surfing was intense as was the moshing. And they closed out the set with another of my favorites, “Manic”. This was definitely the best way to spend my birthday!!!

Wage War is an American post-hardcore band from Ocala, Florida, formed in 2010. Known for their powerful sound and honest lyrics, Wage War has gained a significant following in the metalcore arena. Their debut album, Blueprints, was released in 2015 and showcased their signature blend of melodic elements and heavy breakdowns. IN 2017 they released their 2nd album called Deadweight which was highly received. In 2019, they released their third album, Pressure, which continued to explore themes of anxiety, self-doubt, and resilience.

The band’s music resonates with many listeners, as people can easily connect with their intensely gripping lyrics. Wage War is dedicated to their craft and their commitment to addressing important issues have earned them a loyal fanbase and a respected place in the metalcore genre. Their work not only entertains but also inspires individuals to confront their struggles and seek connection and understanding within the community.

The band members are Briton Bond (Lead Vocals), Seth Blake (Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals), Cody Quistad (Rhythm Guitar/Clean Vocals), Chris Gaylord (Bass/Backing Vocals) and Stephen Kluesener (Drums). In 2021 Manic was released which is one of my favorite albums. Stigma was released this year and I have to say that I really enjoy every song on the album.

If you have not seen these bands I highly recommend all four bands, I know I will see them all again in the future as this was a heck of a show.
