ZERO ONE ZERO & ODDS OF EDEN LIVE
Zero One Zero (010) is one of the best hard rock ensembles that calls the Northeast their home. The band fires thunderbolts full of dynamic guitar riffs and powerful anthemic hooks. I finally got to witness their impressive live show when they recently played Bleachers in Bristol, Ct. with Odds of Eden from Western Mass. This show was 010‘s long anticipated album release party for their sophomore album, Full On that was rescheduled due to Covid.
Odds of Eden is a four piece rock band out of Western Ma. The band is comprised of Tom Hamel (Guitar), Jeremy Jones (Vocals), Rick Thibault (Bass) and Greg Pronovost (the Drummer). The group came out swinging with their first two songs. “Whiskey” and “Brick Wall” are off their imposing 2017 EP, Breaking the Matrix. Both songs were full of grungy guitar fills and brazen melodies. Jones’ voice was strong and filled with ruthless intensity. Hamel’s guitar tore through the room and Thibault’s bass hammered mightily. Pronovost’s drums were relentless and full of depth.
Throughout Odds of Eden’s ten song set they pounded the audience with one forceful song after another. One of the highlights was their 2019 single, “Trials and Tribulations”. The song was a monster. Another cool song was the melodic “Mask I Wear”. Jones’ vocals were extremely emotive and the composition plainly cranked. Odds of Eden also previewed a few new tunes.
Odds of Eden played an audacious show. The band was crisp and the songs memorable. They will be a band I definitely will follow.
Zero One Zero is an incredible gang of bold rockers. Their songs are monstrous and pulverizing. Vocalist Rob “Boots” Zawisza has a huge gnarly voice that smacks you right in the gut. It’s half metal snarl and half blues grit. He easily ensnares the listener with his sublime inflections. Guitarist James Ferrentino plays with unparalleled power and savage licks. He’s a behemoth. Marc Russell punches out the dirtiest bass you’ll ever hear. He’s a ferocious player. Leaving Mark Ahles on drums. His percussions speak volumes. Adventurous and steadfast his drums carry the perfect backbeat.
Live 010 is brutal. Zawisza is a madman. Constantly on the move, he uses every inch of the stage to capture the crowd. Their set was totally high energy with few breaks. The music carried the night. 010 opened with “Blistered” from the 2019 full length, Think Like Machine“. The song set the tone for the rest of evening with its muscular rhythms and tenacious cadence. Ferrentino’s wailing guitar gashed out fierce note after fierce note. What a start!
010 alternated songs off Think Like Machine with ones from Full On. The whole show was an explosive barrage of pummeling compositions. And the audience loved every minute of it. Fan favorites, “Every Time You Speak, “Dead To me” and “Horse Thief” drew tremendous responses. All through the set the band injected tantalizing new material. The new songs whetted the appetite of the room. Their upcoming release will be glorious.
On a whole, the concert was amazing. Both bands played their hearts out. Both bands are aggressive and hungry. Please stream their music. You won’t be disappointed!
