sace6 is a brazen enigma. The New York based duo comprised of sace (Lead Vocals) and Noah Thomas (Guitars/Vocals/Producer/Drums) absolutely destroys musical genres. Their sound fuses melodic R&B and explosive alternative with edgy emo and dramatic metal. On paper, this combination sounds farfetched but sace6 not only make it work, they make their unique blend of music both vibrant and alive.
sace6 just released their new album entitled brutalist via Sumerian Records. The full length delivers ten tracks full of atmospheric textures and cinematic soundscapes. In addition, sace6 balances the emotive qualities of their songs with passages of sonic fury. This creates an entity that feels intimate yet hugely expansive. The listeners is never sure where sace6 is going to take you next.

brutalist – our debut album, the sound designed from the most honest and vulnerable parts of our minds, it took a shape of its own to change the way our ears digest music and to reinstate what “pop music” is. yes there was intention and influence, but most importantly there was confidence in our own emotions to display sonically how we truly feel, furthering our statement one song after the other.
Lyrically, the duo focuses on themes of loneliness, anxiety and self-reflection. Their songs feel deeply personal and sace’s vocals are truly stirring and heartfelt. The instrumentation can have a smooth R&B feel one moment and drop sonic devastation the next. Each song is groove laden with interludes of tension filled ferocity. This dichotomy is the core aesthetic of the band. This is what makes sace6 singular.
brutalist‘s tracks easily showcase this aural duality. “reverie” opens with sace’s lush vocals intermixed with gnarly guitar riffs and a pummeling backbeat. It feels like sublimely floating in waters full of carnage. “ego” starts with incendiary flares and then travels through calm and chaos. The musical fierceness is spectacular and imposing. Every note pours out soft molten fire. “covert” conveys a heavy pop aura yet even here, sace6 power in a crushing barrage of raw energy. “fabulist” is pure mayhem.
With brutalist, sace6 has constructed a musical monument of unlimited potential. The album is full of intense jewels.
